Chapter 6: Heartbreaker

The Woody forged ahead on the mountainous highway toward the nation’s capital. It was late.

“I’m beat,” said Riff, “branded…”

“Me too.”

Bubblegum had an appointment the following morning in Capitalis. A heavy flow of tourists to the capital for the inauguration meant that every hotel and motel there would be at full capacity. As such, they decided to spend the night in the town of Heartbreaker, in the mountain range between Metalopolis and the capital. Though crowded, there would be some available hotel rooms here tonight.

The origin of the town name was hotly debated: there were many rock-and-roll heartbreakers.

“I think my family stayed here once when I was a kid,” said Riff as they entered the small, electric-candlelight hotel lobby.
